What We Can Do About The Amazon Rainforest!

The Lungs of Our Planet Are On Fire, The Amazon is Under Threat

The Amazon Rainforest is the lungs of Our Earth. That’s right Our Earth, Our Planet, The World we live, work, breath and raise our children in. The World our children and grandchildren will grow up in. What world do we want for our children and our children’s children to live in?

On 15 April 2019, before 18:20 CEST, a fire broke out beneath the roof of Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral in Paris. What did Our World do for the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris? President Emmanuel Macron said that the cathedral would be restored. He launched a fundraising campaign! This brought Our World together and donations of over €1 billion were raised! This was an amazing feat! But for what? A piece of historical property that boosts tourism for Paris? This does nothing for the environment or for humanity as a whole. I get that this is a spiritual destination for groups of a few, but not everyone gets to visit this place.

What this did was show that something seen as a “tragedy” could bring Our World together! President Emmanuel Macron had achieved his goal! The vision and purpose of the campaign he had launched had been met with flying colors! If the restoration of the Notre-Dame cathedral cost over €1 billion, I’m not sure it’s worth it, but that’s just my opinion. It was a noble cause, but to restore this beautiful piece of history, it’s predicted to take 20+ years, and for what? I don’t know and it doesn’t affect me, my family or The World I currently live in. We have much bigger issues at hand.

The Amazon Rainforest plays an important role in keeping Our Planet’s carbon-dioxide levels in check. Tropical rainforests take in Our World’s carbon dioxide and then puts oxygen back into Our Environment. So what this means is, it breathes Our Planet’s poison in and breathes out oxygen for humans, and animals to live on. There aren’t many Tropical Rainforests in Our World for this to happen with. The major rainforests are located along the equator and there aren’t many. They are situated in Central America, The Amazon, Central Africa, Australasia, Southern Asia, and Madagascar, and they are shrinking. Climate change is the culprit. There is far too much speculation on what the cause of climate change is, so I’m not even going to touch this subject.

The Tropical Rainforests of Our World — National Geographic

The Amazon Rainforest covers 2.1 million square miles! The dust that gets blown from the Sahara desert acts as a fertilizer for it! This should amaze most people! This dust contains phosphorus which is very important for plant growth. This happens on a yearly basis and is equal to the phosphorus that’s washed away from rain and flooding.

If The Amazon Rainforest ceases to exist, life as we know it will not exist. There have been 72,843 fires in Brazil in 2019, with more than half in the Amazon region. Deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon rose more than 88% in June 2019! This comparison is with June 2018!

The Amazon is on fire and is being deforested. It is home to real living breathing things! There are about 2.5 million insect species, tens of thousands of plants, and some 2,000 birds and mammals. Oh ya, there are also human beings that have made homes in the Amazon Rainforest… According to National Geographic, there could be up to 100 tribes living in The Amazon! This is an estimate, there could be more!

Isn’t this enough for there to be more media coverage on this? Shouldn’t there be help sent to Brazil for these fires? Shouldn’t this be all Our World talks about until something’s done about Our Amazon Rainforest!?

This forest is a living, breathing life form, it is living! Does it not have rights? A right to life? Because it’s provided Our World with life, oxygen and a place to live for many for so long! I hope something’s done and soon! Because if something isn’t done, life as we know it will not exist anymore for Our World, Our Children, and All of Us.

What Does This Have To Do With Me?

Well, what does this have to do with me you say? You should shut up, go back to your life, stop bothering me with this stuff! It doesn’t affect me. Mind your own business and let me live my life, work and make my own money and raise my family. I can’t do anything about this, I don’t live there, I live where I live, I can’t even change things where I live now!

Well, this has everything to do with humanity. Without humanity, there would be no humans! Without humans, The Amazon would not be on fire! What you do with your time matters! How you make your money affects The World around you and the people in it! How you choose to raise your family affects Our World and everything in it. The work and career you have chosen will CHANGE EVERYTHING! Once you become aware of The World around you and the things happening in it, then you can start to make better choices for your life. It’s then you can change anything! You have the choice to change and change the environment around you!

The people in your life will be better off if you become a more aware person! We are global beings. We are not stuck in the country our passports say we are citizens of. We have the ability to go anywhere! If there are restrictions, it’s because society has put these restrictions on us. We have the ability to bend our realities as a human species. We live in a time where if we put our minds to it, we can do anything.

If you think you can’t, you can program your brain to think differently! As humans, we have been programmed in a certain way depending on what society we’ve been brought up in. So, re-program your brain to think you can, it’s never too late! The brain is more powerful than you think!

What You Can Do For The Amazon Rainforest Now!

You’ve already taken the first step, AWARENESS! Awareness of what is happening to the Amazon rainforest is key! So congratulations, you have now become aware of what is happening in a fairly big chunk of our big beautiful planet! This is one of the most important things you can do! Spreading awareness of what is happening is the second most important thing you can do! Discussing this through word of mouth and through social media will do wonders for the Amazon!

If you don’t feel this is enough here are a few things you can do:

  1. Protect an acre of the Amazon: Click Here
  2. Help buy land in the rainforest: Click Here
  3. Reduce your paper and wood consumption or buy rainforest safe products: Click Here
  4. Help protect animals living in the jungle: Click Here
  5. Support arts, science, and other projects that raise awareness about the Amazon: Click Here
  6. Reduce your beef consumption. Rainforest beef is typically found in fast-food hamburgers or processed beef products.
  7. Make your voice heard: Sign a petition

Change is possible! All you need to do is imagine it! If you think you can’t, your right! If you think you can, you are also right! It’s your choice and only yours to make! Just make a choice! Awareness is the key! Once you are aware, Our World has limitless potential and your potential is limitless! No excuses!
